Business Development Representative / Production Assistant

 

This is a part-time on-site role at the POST Newspapers newsroom in Shenton Park, WA. In your hybrid roles as a Business Development Representative / Production Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the sales team through new business development activities (2 days a week) and various newspaper production tasks (1 day a week).

In the Business Development Representative role (2 days / 15 hours a week) you will work as part of the sales team who are responsible for retaining, building and growing customer accounts through advertising in our weekly local newspaper. Your role in the team will be to drive the “building” and “growing” aspect of the team which will require i. working with the existing sales team to help identify new ways to maximise sales on existing accounts (whilst ensuring value is achieved for our customers) and ii. undertaking a targeted and organised approach to identifying and building new customer accounts who could benefit from advertising in the Post Newspaper.

In the Production Assistant role (1 day / 7.5 hours a week) you will work alongside the production staff to upskill yourself on basic production tasks in order to provide bandwidth to the team on production day and assist with ad hoc tasks in putting together the newspaper.

 

This role requires:

    • The ability to work across teams and manage time accordingly

    • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

    • The ability to work under tight deadlines

    • A motivated, adaptable person with strong networking and customer service skills and an ability to build rapport quickly

    • Thinking outside of the box and develop new and creative ways to add value for both our business and our customers.

    • Be able to communicate our value proposition effectively

    • Someone who is engaged in local community matters

    • Ability to meet base level sales targets

 

Qualifications:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy in order to quickly adapt to CRM and production software/programs

    • Prior experience in either production or sales

    • Experience with Adobe InDesign preferred
